The TVDE driver certificate is what lets you drive for ride-hailing platforms in Portugal, and it ends with a written exam at the IMT.

Is this TVDE test free?

Yes. The timed test, the practice by topic and the explanations are all free, with no account, no payment and no limit on attempts.

How many questions does the TVDE exam have?

30 questions in 60 minutes. You need at least 27 correct answers (90%) to pass, so you can afford 3 mistakes.

Can I take the official TVDE exam in English?

No. The IMT exam is in Portuguese. Use the English translation here to learn the material, then switch back to Portuguese to practise for the exam.

Do I need a course before the exam?

Yes. An initial TVDE driver course of at least 50 hours, theory and practice, before the exam at the IMT or at an exam centre authorised by the IMT.

Onde se faz o exame oficial de motorista TVDE?

No IMT ou num centro de exames autorizado pelo IMT, depois do curso inicial de motorista TVDE, que tem um mínimo de 50 horas entre teoria e prática.

O exame TVDE pode ser feito em inglês?

Não. O exame oficial é feito em português. A tradução inglesa deste site serve para estudares a matéria e o vocabulário; o treino antes do exame deve ser em português.

Quanto tempo é válido o certificado de motorista TVDE?

Cinco anos, renováveis por períodos iguais, com uma formação de renovação antes de caducar. O enquadramento legal é a Lei n.º 45/2018 e a Portaria n.º 293/2018.
